DEDUSTING SYSTEMS
Centrifugal Sifters
High efficiency
sifting for Food, Pharmaceuticals and Chemicals
The cantilever
design of this Centrifugal Sifter is based on the tried and tested
Centrifugal Sifter range.
The cantilever
design offers users high standards of hygiene and ease of operation
which are unprecedented.
The concept has
proved so successful that virtually the whole range follows this design. |

Applications - Principle Processes
Feedstock policing
Check sifting both bulk product and
minor ingredients to remove extraneous materials such as string
packaging, insects, bolts etc.
Also to remove hard lumps
agglomerated product, typically at the point of discharge from
storage silos or sacks etc.
Scalping
Protecting processing or packaging
equipment by removing the small percentage of product exceeding
the maxim feedstock specification.
Classification
One or more sifters divide product
into the various grades required for further processing or
packaging.
De-dusting
Removal of fines that have been
generated during processing and handling which will otherwise
spoil the appearance of a packed product or cause a problem during
subsequent Processing.
Conditioning
Centrifugal sifters are an excellent
means to enliven stored product to give it a more uniform density
and make it flow easier.
De-agglomerating
The positive action of centrifugal
sifters ensures that all but the hardest agglomerates of otherwise
perfectly good product are recovered. |

Other Applications
De-watering
Centrifugal sifters are equally
suitable for the removal of excess liquid from certain slurries,
pastes and solids in suspension.
De-packeting
Fitted with a special inlet scroll
which cuts open packing material, centrifugal sifters are ideal
for the recovery of product from sachets, bags, pouches and other
wrapping where the finished product is under-weight, substandard
or damaged in some way.
Fruit de-lumping
By installing an adapted screw feeder
the sifter inlet, blocks of dried fruit can be broken up in
individual pieces without damage.
In-line sieving
Fitting a centrifugal sifter directly
into pneumatic conveying systems for check sieving of powders
between storage and usage.

|
|
Other special applications include
Gas
purging of the unit - ideal for inerting applications; High pressure
sifters for explosion containment; Twin/tandem sifters for multiple
separation.
Specialist application data sheets giving more detailed information on
the above are available on request.

Sifter Range |
|
|
Laboratory
Sifter
This sifter
features a cantilevered shaft design, and is built for rapid and easy
disassembly for thorough cleaning. It ensures total recovery of
product after each sifting operation. |

|
|
Mini-Sifter
The mini sifter
has a cantilevered shaft design, and is ideal for pilot and small
production processes. Throughputs range from a few grams per minute to
150kg/hr. |
|
K300
This sifter also
features a cantilevered shaft design, and can manage a throughput of 3
tonnes per hour depending on the product and sieve screen size. Mirror
polished units are suited to high hygiene applications in the
pharmaceutical industry. |

|
|
K500
The K500 is ideal
for check sieving, deagglomerating and homogenising products at the
point of packing or for minor ingredients as they are metered into
other processes. It also features cantilevered shaft design, and is
capable of sieving at up to 10 tonnes per hour. |
|
K650
Also employing a
cantilevered shaft design, the K650 is the workhorse of the
centrifugal sifter range, capable of sifting rates up to 20 tonnes per
hour. |

|
|
K800
With the option
of two bearings or a cantilevered shaft design dependant upon
application, the K800 is built for high capacity sieving at rates of
up to 40 tonnes per hour. The machine has a generous clearance around
the sieve screen enabling it to maintain production rates with sticky
products. |
|
1350K
The K1350
features bearings at both ends due to its size, and is designed for
throughputs of up to 100 tonnes per hour. It also features a unique
‘forward and lift’ access door for easy inspection, cleaning and
maintenance as well as a hinged oversize end door. |

|
|
EZ Sifter
Following
extensive research and thousands of hours of multi product testing in
our Technology Centre, KPT has added to its range of sifters with the
EZ. It features cantilever design and is highly efficient and operator
friendly, with no tools required for stripping down and cleaning. One
model size is available, which is constructed using stainless steel
and it is ATEX 22 certified as standard. |

|
|
Sifting Screens
Standard screens
are supplied in white nylon, but for special applications we can offer
the following:
Coloured
nylon screens (red or blue)
Anti-static screens using carbon filaments and other specialised
materials
Wedge
wire screens for the most arduous, heavy duty applications or where
access for maintenance is severely limited, as in radioactive processes
Screen
protectors eject incoming material or extraneous objects which may
damage the sieving mesh
Sifters are readily
custom built to further aid easy clean, hygienic operation and can be
provided with extras such as:
CIP spray
facilities
Inlet
section access door
Additional inspection doors on sifter body
Screen
protectors eject incoming material or extraneous objects which may
damage the sieving mesh |
|
Testing
and hire facilities
Sifting is not a precise science and occasionally some degree of empiric
testing is required to achieve customers’ exact requirements. Our
extensive equipped test centre is at the disposal of customers able to
bring or forward samples of products for trials.
Where circumstances dictate that trials are best carried out at the
customer premises, this can be accommodated using one or more of our
many transportable demonstration units. Centrifugal sifters may also be
hired by customers requiring additional capacity during seasonal peaks
or for producing product for test marketing. |
